CONCORD, N.H. - The State of New Hampshire, in conjunction with a number of non-profit organizations, has developed a new emergency preparedness website called ReadyNH.
The site, which is found at www.nh.gov/readynh, is aimed at providing information on emergency preparedness for individuals and families, businesses and other organizations in New Hampshire, organized around the themes "stay, leave, connect." Depending on the situation, residents may need to stay in their homes for at least 72 hours or evacuate and need to have a plan to communicate with loved ones.
"We hope people in New Hampshire will find this site useful," said Christopher M. Pope, Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. "We want to provide information that people can put to use in their homes and workplaces to improve the level of emergency preparedness in the state."
ReadyNH provides seasonal and year-round emergency preparedness information and planning activities. During active emergencies it will become the state’s primary location for information on the event. "
In each of the disasters New Hampshire has faced since the flood of October 2005, the state has had to create an ad hoc disaster information website," Pope said. "Now, ReadyNH will assume that role. In the event of a disaster, people should look to ReadyNH for information such as shelter location and road closures."
