Centers for Disease Control (CDC)
The CDC is recognized as the lead federal agency for protecting the health and safety of people - at home and abroad, providing credible information to enhance health decisions, and promoting health through strong partnerships. CDC serves as the national focus for developing and applying disease prevention and control, environmental health, and health promotion and education activities designed to improve the health of the people of the United States. Following the tragic and historic events of September 11th and the Anthrax attacks along the east coast, Congress appropriated funds through the Public Health Threats and Emergencies Act to improve the readiness of public health agencies throughout the nation to respond to a bioterrorism attack and other public health emergencies. Funds distributed by CDC to strengthen the public health infrastructure and emergency preparedness planning support the public health network in New Hampshire.

NH Department of Safety, Bureau of Emergency Management
The NH Department of Safety protects the lives, property and environment of the people of New Hampshire from the threat or occurrence of emergencies resulting from any natural or man-made disaster, including but not limited to flood, fire, earthquake, windstorm, tsunami, technological incidents, drought, terrorism, epidemic, hurricanes and tornadoes. The Bureau of Emergency Management provides funds received from the CDC to support the public health network as well as works closely with the Public Health Network to assure local communities plan and adequately prepare for emergencies.

NH Department of Health and Human Services, Community Health Development Section
The NH DHHS DPHS assures the health and well being of communities and populations in NH by protecting and promoting the physical, mental and environmental health of its citizens, and by preventing disease, injury and disability. The Community Health Development Section supports the Public Health Network to increase the ability of NH communities to both respond to public health emergencies, including terrorism and infectious disease outbreaks, and also deliver core public health functions locally and regionally. A critical aspect of NH's public health emergency preparedness plan is support for the development of an integrated regional public health infrastructure with capacity to engage in community health improvement activities as well as public health emergency preparedness and response.
